Today we began our morning along the 23 fathom bank in high hopes for so nice wahoo. Flat calm seas and good reports sounded to juicy to turn away from so we drove 120 miles in from the rocks to get our hands on some of this action. Daylight came around and we threw the jigs out right away. It didn’t take long before our first jig strike came around and man were these wahoo some beauties. 35-70+ pounds were the average fish which are know as logs. Seeing as we had a jig strike within the first 10 minutes of fishing were had high expectations for a good day.

Well turns out, that was not the case. With most of the fish being caught yesterday in there by both skiffs and other long range boats the wahoo were definitely beat up. So we bailed out relatively early after having only a couple more strikes. Our next destination turned out the be the right call 5 minutes after putting the jigs in lead to a 4 way hook up and wahoo going crazy everywhere. This is what we were looking for. Very good wahoo fishing for a couple of stops before that body of fish moved on or turned their noses away.

After this we drove up towards the 13 trying to get a feel of the entire ridge in preparation for the next day of fishing. This has us a good feeling of where to be at certain times and where not to be we hope. Anyhow today everyone had multiple opportunities to catch and or hook a wahoo. Tomorrow we’ll be banging away at it come daylight!
